The strongest components of a company’s culture are the beliefs and attitudes of the employees, the people who make up the culture. No amount of corporate slogans or mottos will really influence bottom-line performance unless the employees' belief systems have created a productive culture that is in accordance with the organisation’s mission.
At Centaur Trust we live by a set of shared values, encapsulated in our Mission Statement, that guide the actions and behaviour of each of us. Our values and beliefs influence the way we work; as well as the way we serve our clients:
Our Values The foundation of all decisions;
To help promising start-ups and SME’s achieve their ambitions by providing them with all the tools and resources needed for sustainable growth so that they can ultimately make a difference.

Our Work Home
The number one benefit of information technology is that it empowers people to do what they want to do. It lets people be creative. It lets people be productive. It lets people learn things they didn’t think they could learn before, and so in a sense, it is all about potential
As a technologically advanced organisation, we ensure that every team member has access to, and is adequately trained on, all the latest software and technologies available to support and assist them in performing their specific duties.
In addition to acquiring and maintaining the latest off the shelf software solutions, our IT department designs and develops unique and innovative in-house solutions to continually fuel work efficiencies and productivity within the organisation.
Training & Development
Learning and innovation go hand in hand. The arrogance of success is to think that what you did yesterday will be sufficient for tomorrow
The primary strategic consideration of our firm is the insistence on consistently high levels of quality in everything we do. It is therefore our policy to always recruit staff of the highest caliber, for all positions. By establishing effective recruitment and selection processes, we ensure our success in appointing the best candidate for each position within the firm. Once the right people are selected in accordance to the criteria outlined on each vacancy, we provide outstanding education and training by organizing in-house training sessions on a regular basis, apart from the on the job training that is provided daily.
Developing our staff’s abilities is a priority in managing our human capital. In our various departments, our people’s excellence is demonstrated by their experience in their areas of expertise but also by the diversity of their career paths. Therefore, providing our colleagues with opportunities for mobility and accompanying them in every step of the way, becomes a priority.
We proactively encourage our team members to improve their knowledge and develop their skills. We arrange extensive training courses from both within and outside the organisation so that they are able to carry out their work expediently and efficiently, irrespective to department and function.
To this end, we have developed our own in-house Centaur Trust Academy whereby team members can enrole for courses online and undertake these at their leisure being accessible from any device. Courses are also assigned in instances where it has been identified that a member needs to brush up on something or develop a new skill.
We are also an accredited ICAEW training office thus offering the possibility to some of our employees to follow this career path. At the same time, the diversity of our in-house departments offer a range of different options from which to acquire new skills and develop.
In Centaur we value knowledge at the same level with ethics and character. We enable our people to be comfortable being themselves, and encourage every person to realise his or her potential. Because the best firms create a workplace that becomes a competitive advantage. In essence, our approach is simple - we want all our members to have the necessary skills to leave but yet choose to stay.
True equality means holding everyone accountable in the same way, regardless of race, gender, faith, ethnicity - or political ideology
We provide clear and fair terms of employment in compliance with all relevant employment laws in a clean, healthy and safe working environment.
We adhere to a policy of equal opportunities for all existing and potential team members. We do not discriminate on the grounds of colour, ethnic origin, gender, age, religion, political or other opinion, disability or sexual orientation.
We believe that we have all been created equally and as a result, should have all the same rights and privileges as each other and be measured and assessed the same way.
We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak
Communication has always been the means by which great leaders achieve great things. But these days, communication occurs in sound bites, status updates, text messages, and tweets. More and more, communication is one-to-many, not one-to-one. The problem with that is it’s mostly superficial and nobody’s got time to pay attention to even a tiny fraction of all the gigabytes being blasted at them every day.
According to most studies, the average person remembers between 25% and 50% of what he or she hears. That means that when people communicate in the workplace, they are likely to retain less than half of the conversation. It’s not so much that we have poor memories, but rather that most of us simply don’t listen very well.
Communicating well requires listening closely enough to not only hear the words but to grasp true meaning. By doing so, you enhance productivity and add to your ability to communicate without conflict or misunderstanding.
We listen and hear what our people are saying, we empathize, relate and truly connect. By really listening to our people, we create the conditions for efficient communication so that every individual within Centaur Trust can feel a sense of involvement and belonging and grow with us.
FAMILY FRIENDLY POLICIES
Flexible working is something that we are willing to offer to our team members and have developed family friendly policies. What differentiates us from the rest however is our commitment that this will not affect future career development.
Through investment in the latest technology and the development of our productivity platform, we have created a working environment where physical location is no longer relevant. Whether you work from home or anywhere outside of the workplace, you will have almost exactly the same access and capabilities as if you were sitting at your desk.
At Centaur Trust the focus of all our attention is on servicing the requirements of our international client base. Being international is part of our daily life, since our clients come from many different countries. We believe that gaining work experience by travelling abroad and being exposed to different cultures and customs is a very enriching experience and will prove to be a real asset in your career.
Character and Excellence
What do the following quotations tell us about the power of character?
You must discover what you are made for, and you must work indefatigably to achieve excellence in your field of endeavor. If you are called to be a street sweeper, you should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry.
Excellence is not an act, but a habit.
The secret joy in work is excellence
The best preparation for tomorrow is to do today's work superbly well.
I challenge you to find one single solitary individual who has achieved his or her personal greatness without lots of hard work.
There is no such thing as failure. There is only giving up too soon.
These quotes tell us that the experience of excellence is a central part of human fulfillment, and that character -- working hard, doing our best, and persevering -- is essential for realizing excellence. Excellence matters, and character matters in our pursuit of excellence. . It follows that building a work character must be about developing ethics and excellence.
If work character had a motto, it's been Theodore Roosevelt's famous observation: "To educate a person in mind and not in morals is to educate a menace to society." However, the reverse of Roosevelt's maxim is also true: To educate a person in morals and not in mind is to educate, if not a menace, at least a detriment to society. Who wants a mechanic, lawyer, or an accountant who's caring and honest, but incompetent?
Excellence matters, and character matters in our pursuit of excellence.
Performance Character and Moral Character
To maximize the power of character is to define it to include the quest for excellence as well as the quest for ethics. Conceived in this way, character has two parts:1. performance character and 2. moral character.
Performance character is a mastery orientation. It consists of those qualities -- such as diligence, determination, a strong work ethic, confidence, resourcefulness, resilience, adaptability, and self-discipline -- needed to achieve our highest potential in any workplace environment.
Performance character is not the same as performance. Performance is the outcome (the grade, the honor, the achievement), whereas performance character consists of the character strengths, such as best effort, that enable us to pursue our personal best -- whether the outcome is realized or not. In the long run, performance character does maximize performance because it brings to bear the strengths and strategies by which we get the most from our natural talent.
Moral character is a relational orientation. It consists of those qualities -- such as honesty, respect, fairness, caring, cooperation, and moral courage -- needed for successful relationships and ethical behavior. Moral character enables us to treat others -- and ourselves -- with respect and care and to act with integrity in our lives. Moral character also ensures that we do not violate moral values such as fairness, honesty, and caring in the pursuit of high performance. Without strong moral character, performance character can easily run amuck -- as when an employee cheats to get good evaluation performance reviews.
Rendering Character Relevant to Work
Conceptualizing character to include both performance character and moral character makes work character quite important to the workplace:
Usually most of the management teams look at work performance on purely mathematical terms. We at Centaur Trust we look at work performance in a more integrated way. We believe that only if we integrate excellence and ethics, will our employees be prepared to flourish - at work and beyond.
CHARACTER MATTERS, BUT IT IS COMMITMENT THAT COUNTS
Without commitment you cannot have any depth in anything whether it’s a relationship, a business or a hobby.
We are committed to providing the best possible service to our clients in order to help them achieve their goals. As a consequence, we expect the same level of commitment from our team members. It really is as simple as that.
Commitment therefore is the fundamental prerequisite that we look for in any new recruit, irrespective to their role or function. Of course, their professional background and qualifications are important, as is their personal character, but the overriding defining quality that we look for is commitment. The good thing is that you either are or you’re not.
In return, our team members are rewarded with the opportunity of working within an exceptional environment, with a talented and committed team who share the vision of the organisation, who strive for excellence in all that they do – day in, day out.
Case Study: Brendon Rodgers (current Celtic manager, ex Liverpool manager)
The below is a summary of the approach that Brendan Rodgers took to his appointment as the manager of Liverpool FC, his responsibilities as manager of the club and the attitude that he expects from his players.
We believe that this aptly and succinctly explains our philosophy in terms of our responsibility as an employer and what we expect from our team members.
It is the intelligence he continually communicates with his player. "I want commitment, not motivation, because motivation is fleeting, it goes by feelings.
You may get up in the morning and feel like you don't want to do it, so what? You don't do it? If you're a life-saving surgeon and you've got five operations a day, and you work on motivation, you may be motivated for the first four, but the fifth one needs their life saved just as much, so you have to be committed to the cause.
Once there's a commitment, I will then organise a plan for them to be the very best they can be. Not for me - for them, in order to improve.
I then say, it is your responsibility. I will give you all the tools, an elite environment, a high-performance focus, we give you the best people: medical, mental, technical, tactical and I will manage that.
All those factors will allow you to perform to a level of excellence. I tell all the players: 'the crown is on your head, you're the king of your destiny.'
